MSNBC Host Doesn’t Care That Scalise Is In Critical Condition, Just Told Repulsive Lie About Him

The tragic targeted shooting of Republican congressmen including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise should have sent a clear message to liberals and their media enablers to finally quit with their disgusting and attacks on President Donald Trump and conservative lawmakers in Washington, D.C.

Instead of showing baseline compassion for the fact that Rep. Scalise nearly died and still faces a tough road to recovery in the hospital, an MSNBC host opted to reengage her attacks against him just days after he was nearly killed.

Said liberal host Joy Reid, in conversation with top-ranking Democrat and NAACP board member Rev. William J. Barber II, “There’s a whole country out there and a lot of people, at least in my Twitter timeline, and it’s a delicate thing, because everybody is wishing the congressman well and hoping that he recovers, but Steve Scalise has a history that we’ve all been forced to sort of ignore on race. He did come to leadership after some controversy over attending a white nationalist event, which he says he didn’t know what it was.”

She was referring to the fact that Scalise once spoke to a white nationalist group in 2002 about tax laws. Explained Scalise, “I didn’t know who all of these groups were and I detest any kind of hate group,” and added that “as a Catholic, I think some of the things they profess target people like me.” Democratic Congressman Cedric Richmond, an African-American, defended Scalise regarding the incident, saying, “I don’t think Steve Scalise has a racist bone in his body.”

Instead of mentioning Richmond’s defense or acknowledging the fact that Rep. Scalise has publicly condemned the white nationalist group, Reid carried on with her smear, stating, “He also co-sponsored a bill to amend the Constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. He co-sponsored the House healthcare bill, which as you said would gut healthcare for millions of people including three million children and he cosponsored a bill to repeal the ban on semiautomatic weapons. Because he is in jeopardy and everybody is pulling for him, are we required in a moral sense to put that aside in the moment?” Do you think it’s revolting that Reid is launching these attacks against a lawmaker who is still in critical condition after nearly being killed?
