On Wednesday, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith expressed his amazement with people who seem to justify what seems to be Russian interference in the 2016 election after Donald Trump Jr. released an email exchange with publicist Rob Goldstone.
“The [New York] Times reports that the president’s son was told the paper is going to print these things,” Smith stated, “we’re going to print the emails. And he tweeted copies of the emails instead of replying to requests for content.”
“This was not being transparent,” he announced, “this was the New York Times is gonna publish this, I’m gonna publish it instead.”
“Then there’s the president’s claim that the Russia investigation is a ‘witch hunt.’ Fox News can confirm it is not,” Smith asserted. “Current and former U.S. officials say there is absolutely no doubt that Russia interfered in our election, put its thumbs on the scales of Democracy.”
“And that Vladimir Putin ordered the thumbs!” he declared. “And all the meddling, lots if different kinds of meddling!”
“Attempting to change our Democracy from Moscow!” he highlighted. “And some people seem to think it’s OK.”
“It’s astounding!” Smith ended.
The New York Times reported a meeting that included Trump Jr., Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, and a Russian lawyer. The email exchange between Trump Jr. and Goldstone suggest that the Russians possessed damaging information on then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. In a Twitter post, Trump Jr. disclosed the emails which demonstrated his interest in the potentially harmful information for Clinton.
